Sunday...Daytona to Titusville...ugh rain

We lay in bed listening to the patter of the rain...it was so cozy, well until the realization set in that we'd be schlogging in it all day.  So up and at 'em rain or shine.  We left Daytona around 0720 or so and started the journey to Titusville.  It's hard to complain when you are on a boat, on extended leave from work, in Florida but we are spoiled so of course we did but not too much.

Rain geared and coffeed up
Gray, blah

Ponce de Leon Inlet Light
Not sure if you can see it but there's a distinct line between the river and the inlet water as we near high tide.
It's pretty even if it's drizzling.
Looking back at the inlet, the sky had cleared enough to make a lovely subdued backdrop
Funky cat anchored off the side of the channel
We knew Pamalynn was behind us and we ended up the three of us together at the first drawbridge.  We are traveling with Island Khaya but it was nice to see Pamalynn again too.  All three of us are heading to Titusville and will either anchor or pick up a mooring ball at the municipal marina.  I'm thinking a ball may be the better choice based on the forecast for thunderstorms tomorrow.  I suppose we would just keep motoring through since we're on the ICW now.
Island Khaya and Pamalynn
Pamalynn and Island Khaya
That's a great shot of Pamalynn.
So on we continue and at midday it's still overcast with on and off light rain.  We are currently making our way through the Mosquito Lagoon fixin' to hang a sharp right to cut across west of Cape Kennedy to Titusville.  We'll be there probably in four or so hours.  Now I'll get all nostalgic about when I worked for Grumman on the Space Station program and we had a huge office at KSC.  Don't even get me started about NASA budget cuts and the end of the Shuttle Program.  Oh, look at me going all political there ;-)

Waaaaah! Where's the clear sky?
Thing that sucks about a day like today is that it's cool and rainy so that compels us to snack...we can't help it, it's nature's way.  But the thing that rocks about days like today is taking a tight cut into a narrow channel and seeing manatees!!! Then passing a island full of birds including ones that look like flamingos!

Tonight we are going make homemade fish tacos and I'm looking forward to that!  I suppose since Mark and Jon are tag teaming being at the helm, that allows me to just veg inside...maybe read a bit or perhaps sneak a movie on the computer.  But don't tell my crewmates that I'm being a lazy bones!  Oh shucks, I said I'd reorganize the frig so I guess I should keep my word.  Oh and folks, I think I'm going to see about having Mark or Jon do a blog post for you all...I think a little blog diversity is in order since you've put up with my "Dear Diary" posts for so long.  Thanks for that.  Hope it's dry where you are! XO Suzanne

PS, Not wanting to let you down, here is the sunset at our Titusville mooring and I'm trying chocolate chip cookies again but this time as blondie brownies ;-)
