Southbound and Down...Destination, Palm Beach

After a beautiful sunrise, we departed Jensen Beach for the Lake Worth Inlet (aka Palm Beach area).  Our plan was to stage here tonight then leave before sunrise and go back out into the Atlantic and get to the Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) Inlet Saturday late afternoon then an anchorage somewhere around Dania.  That was the plan.

It was a glorious day on the ICW and we found ourselves officially in South Florida at about mile 1007.  That was after Jupiter Inlet which was gorgeous but very dangerous at times so no way would we go out there.  The ICW changed drastically now and we were surrounded on either side by houses that were huge, ostentatious, amazing, tacky and/or gloriously beautiful.

Super cute and colorful
Whoa, that takes money
This one is for sale!! I'm sure it's super affordable!
Hanging out
We went through a few bridges and were very lucky that one of the bridges opened for us three minutes late...he did NOT have to do that and he was super cool to do it.

Also I can tell you from first hand experience that there is a 5-10 mile stretch of the ICW where the marinas suck ass...they don't monitor the VHF and don't answer their phones or don't have a fuel dock or don't do pump outs.  So at this point I was major pissed that we did not pump out at Vero Beach and were overfull and I had to pee.  Finally I found Loggerhead in Palm Beach that was AWESOME...super convenient, very very helpful and professional and all around excellent.  Again, I will say it for the second time, when you have the chance to pump out--just do it.  If for no other reason then to shut me up.  Ha!

We passed through the last two bridges and voila! We were at the turn off for where we planned to anchor in North Palm Beach.  Great spot tucked in a little lake like setting with plenty of room and a group of teenagers wake skiing behind their ski boat...playing Katy Perry at one point.  Can you imagine being a teenager here--ski boat--cute gals to show off for...ah, the life.  I know the feeling! Jon made us a fantastic dinner while we enjoyed South Florida Stray Cat Happy Hour!
The various Palm Beaches are up there!

Our plans have since changed at the facility where we will be dropping an obnoxious amount of money for boat repairs cannot take us until the week of Thanksgiving.  Can you believe that I was so annoyed by that?  Yes, I was annoyed that we need to kill an extra week in this part of South Florida...Sun...Warmth...  Seriously, I need mental health assistance if that is what bothers me these days.  I guess I was just eager to get to Dania because I knew how to get to the beach and grocery store--priorities you know.  I will say that I am on this boat with two of the most patient laid back and easy going guys I have ever met.  I made double chocolate chip cookie muffins so that may buy me a little forgiveness for being a drama queen!  Even so, God bless them both.  I sure hope they don't throw me overboard...ummmm, not kidding ;-)

Fuzzy but you get the idea--it's cool

That's Island Khaya in the middle there--you can see her anchor light.
Anyway, we'll stay anchored here tomorrow and figure out our next move.  Maybe we'll go out after all or maybe we will continue down the ICW.  At one point we'll be in/near Hollywood waiting for the repair facility to open up so that will be pretty cool!  The water is super warm here and I was very tempted to just jump in...tomorrow in the daylight perhaps.  XO Suzanne
