Catching Up on the Last Couple of Days Part 1

I have no idea where I left off so I will probably get confused or repeat myself.  Plus I'm drinking a Ranger and attempting to make brownies after success with biscuits and bread yesterday and pretzel rolls today.  But that does not have anything to do with anything and now I'm off topic and have lost my train of thought.  Oh right, what's been happening the last day and half...I'll start with yesterday I guess.

Ok, so you know that we left Station Creek Sunday after that whole gale thing...we left later in the morning around 1130 which was nice because we didn't have to rush and it gave the world time to warm up because it is f'ing cold here in the morning--43 degrees with frost warnings--seriously SC?  I think I made bread before we left and by the time 1100 came around, it was 52 with a high of 57 forecast (not ok).  As has become a regular treat, we saw dolphins in the creek where we were anchored and I'm sure they were none to happy with the cold either!

We planned a short day of about 20 miles on the ICW...during that time, the Redskins lost (because they suck--yes I am a typical fan) and the Browns won -- Woohoo! As usual the ICW may be slower going but it is quite lovely, especially through SC and now GA where the marshes remind me of scenes from Forrest Gump but I get to see them myself.  It also gave me time to make more biscuits but this time garlic cheese...and I got to eat these and they were num num nummy if I do say so myself.

Private (?) Beach on Hilton Head
Shrimp Boats :-)
People who have a heck of a lot more money than us!
Other fun facts for the day included making it under a bridge that charts say is 65 feet but Active Captain says is 64 but actually may not be even that high...we went through on a lower tide and it was fine but I would not want to go through in high tide.
Back up on the bridge that may or may not be 64 or 65 feet
Whatever it was, we made it...hey who's that super model on the port side there?
Super super super cute little tuglette from Quebec
We found our intended anchorage in the New River (on the other side of a crazy shoal that had us sucking it in to get through then having to literally U-turn back up into the River itself.  It was a great spot and in the distance you could see a bridge that takes you into Savannah...where we may visit if we take the ICW back home next year.

The treat of the night was hosting Island Khaya for sups and offering them a toasty warm boat.  They were bundled up due to the chill so I was happy it was warm on Stray Cat.  They were quite kind and ate everything I served--baked chicken, sauteed zucchini, bread and biscuits.  We had candy for dessert and they brought Snickers...that tells you how nice they are.  Anyone willing to share their Snickers are good people for sure (not sure I would have done that-haha).  Of course there was another beautiful sunset :-)
